Morning lows of 5-13°C, daytime highs of 14-20°C... Temperature difference between day and night around 15°C
Strong winds with gusts up to 15m/s mainly in the West Coast and Jeju, possibility of Asian dust inflow
Fine dust 'Bad' in the metropolitan area and Chungnam in the morning... Caution needed during morning commute due to inland fog
Tomorrow morning drops another 5-8°C... Below freezing in some parts of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungchung
The morning commute on Monday, the 2nd, was chilly, but spring-like warmth will return during the day. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the country will start mostly cloudy and gradually clear up starting in the morning. Light rain of less than 5mm is expected to linger in the mid-slopes and mountainous areas of Jeju Island until 9 a.m. before stopping. As cold air moves down from the northwest, mornings and evenings will be chilly, and the temperature difference between day and night is analyzed to widen to around 15°C in some places.
Morning lows are forecasted at 5 to 13°C, and daytime highs at 14 to 20°C. By region, Seoul will start at 9°C with a high of 15°C, Chuncheon 7°C and 15°C, Daejeon 8°C and 17°C, Daegu 9°C and 18°C, Gwangju 10°C and 18°C, Busan 13°C and 20°C, and Jeju 17°C and 19°C. Air quality may reach 'Bad' in the morning in the metropolitan area and Chungnam, and Asian dust originating from the Inner Mongolian Plateau may pass mainly through the West Coast and Jeju Island from early morning to afternoon today, temporarily increasing fine dust concentrations. Fog with visibility of less than 1km is expected in inland and mountainous areas of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungchung, and Gyeongbuk, requiring drivers to slow down and secure safety distances during the morning commute.
Strong winds with sudden gusts of around 15m/s (55km/h) are expected starting in the afternoon, mainly along the West Coast and Jeju Island. Temperatures will drop sharply after the rain stops. On the 3rd, morning lows will range from 0 to 9°C, dropping 5 to 8°C lower than today, and morning temperatures in northeastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and some inland areas of Chungchung will drop below freezing, causing ice to form. The Korea Meteorological Administration urged the public to take care of crop and health management, noting that the temperature difference between day and night will exceed 10 degrees mainly in inland areas this week.
Amid large temperature fluctuations during the seasonal transition, blood vessels and respiratory tracts are easily exposed to rapid temperature changes. It is safe to bring a light outer layer when going out and to shift morning workouts to the daytime when the body is warmed up. People traveling toward the West Coast and Jeju where Asian dust is passing should prepare masks, and reduced-speed driving is necessary on fog-bound inland roads. Starting tomorrow, when morning temperatures in some areas drop below freezing, it is time to check in advance for preparations against frost damage to agricultural fields and freezing of water meters.
