Held for three days at Busan BEXCO, gathering 1,403 domestic and international experts
In-depth discussions on ammonia, hydrogen, decarbonization, physical AI, and digital twins
Expanding global networks through 2 keynote speeches and 28 thematic presentations in specialized sessions
President Ryu Dong-keun says, "Strengthening the competitiveness of the regional shipbuilding and offshore industry through industry-academia-research cooperation"
The ANCHOR Project Group at Korea Maritime & Ocean University officially participated in the '2026 International Offshore Plant Technology Conference' held at the BEXCO Convention Center in Busan, sharing the latest technologies in the shipbuilding and offshore plant industry as well as research outcomes in digital transformation. This event was organized to assess rapidly changing global marine energy market trends and expand cooperation networks among domestic and international industry, academic, and research experts.
The conference was a great success, drawing a total of 1,403 attendees including officials from major domestic and international shipyards, marine research institutes, and global engineering companies. Over the course of three days, a total of 28 in-depth thematic presentations were delivered across 2 keynote speeches, panel discussions, and 6 specialized sessions, focusing heavily on core issues of the global shipbuilding and maritime industry, including eco-friendly fuel propulsion systems and decarbonization technologies.
In particular, on the second and third days of the event, in-depth discussions were held on current developments in ammonia and hydrogen fuel cell systems, alongside core technologies for future unmanned and automated ships such as Physical AI, Digital Twins (DT), and Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX). Through this exchange, the ANCHOR Project Group achieved outcomes such as reviewing localization strategies for regional shipbuilding and marine equipment companies and strengthening supply chain response systems aligned with global client trends.
Ryu Dong-keun, President of Korea Maritime & Ocean University, emphasized, "At a critical juncture when the global shipbuilding and maritime industry is being restructured around eco-friendly energy transition and AI-based technological innovation, we will pool the university's specialized research capabilities and industry-academia cooperation infrastructure to drive the regional industry's secured global competitiveness and sustainable development." Cheon Kang-woo, head of the ANCHOR Project Group, also stated, "We will strengthen the R&D capabilities of regional shipbuilding and marine companies to secure leadership in future emerging marine industries."
