Korea National Maritime University (President Ryu Dong-keun) has embarked on a participatory innovation experiment to reflect the creative ideas of its members in actual administrative services and university operations.

Korea National Maritime University announced on the 20th that it held the award ceremony for the '2026 1st KMOU Open Innovation Activation Contest' at the university headquarters, aiming to spread an innovative culture within the campus. This contest was designed to directly receive ideas for improving administrative services from university members, including students, faculty, and staff, and turn them into policies.

Through the submitted proposals, the university conducted practical feasibility reviews by relevant departments and in-depth evaluations by a judging committee. As a result, a total of 10 excellent ideas were ultimately selected—including 1 Grand Prize, 2 Excellence Prizes, 3 Encouragement Prizes, and 4 Participation Prizes—and certificates and prizes were awarded at the ceremony.

Rather than ending as a one-time event, the adopted ideas will undergo detailed reviews by their respective departments and will be directly utilized in formulating policies and improving systems at Korea National Maritime University.

Lim Jong-se, Director of the Planning Office, stated, "We will actively review creative ideas from our members so that they can lead to practical university innovation," adding, "We plan to continuously expand opportunities for members to directly participate in the university innovation process moving forward."
